Phoenix Youth Group

Phoenix meets each Wednesday here in LINC at 6pm.

They have been working collaboratively with UNITE youth over in The Other Place and have now formed a joint group which is called UP.

This group meets over in the Other Place each Thursday in what is now a youth café.

The café will open at 6.30 each Thursday.

Every Weds at 6pm.

So if you are out there and between the ages of 16 to 23 or if you know someone in this age group, get in touch and we will give you all the details about this up and coming vibrant youth group who are getting great press locally and involved in super initiatives

Phoenix Youth Group at LINC was established in November 2010. The group meet each Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm in LINC.  This is resuming in September. The group is facilitated by a youth worker who has specific experience working with LGBT youth. Growing up with society’s stereotypes about lesbians might make you think you have to be a certain way if you’re a lesbian. Your sexual orientation is only one part of who you are. You probably have hobbies and interests that are the same as those of some of your straight friends. Phoenix youth members are offered support and reassurance that they are not alone and are offered a safe environment in which to meet and socialise with other young people who may be LGBT.
 

There are several ways for you to access Phoenix Youth Group

• Just come along on a Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm
• Give us a call first on 021 4808600 and speak with a member of staff who will put you in contact with the Youth worker before you come for the first time as some young people may be a small bit intimidated especially if you are alone.
• E-mail info@linc.ie for a reply and information by e-mail
• If you are out to your family or friends you might like them to contact us on your behalf and that’s ok too. The most important thing is that you don’t feel alone.

Phoenix Youth News

Phoenix youth are taking a break for the Summer. Global Fest on Saturday was an astounding success and the girls were brilliant.  Watch this space for the launch of their CD.  BBQ was great and the food was plentiful with “Doggy bags” going out the door like the new time. Thanks Reg for the cooking, the girls really appreciated it and couldn’t have done it without you!  Gillian roped in family and friends to do some food prep and again that was invaluable. THANKS.

Can we just take an opportunity to Thank Gillian our youth worker for her constant commitment to Phoenix.  She is an inspiration to the members and all of them speak so highly of her.  The success of Phoenix is dependent on members and the professional way Gillian facilitates their sessions.  This group is growing by the week and we know we have new members already waiting to join in September!  Thanks again to the entire group who have represented LINC throughout the year;
